Raycast Settings is where you can customize your experience, select preferences for all built-in features or installed extensions, as well as assign shortcuts to instantly launch commands, quicklinks and applications.
It is accessible through the Ctrl
,
hotkey or the Open Settings
command in root search.
General
The General tab lets you tailor Raycast to your needs:
- Appearance: Raycast supports a light and dark theme. By default, it adopts your system appearance, however, you can select either as your preference.
- Open at login: We recommend keeping this toggled on in order to have Raycast available as soon as you start your computer.
- Hotkey: Set your global hotkey to launch Raycast (by default, we suggest
Alt
Space
during onboarding).
- Window Mode: Choose between Expanded (default) and Compact mode.
- Updates: Check for available updates or access our Changelog (see the Product Updates section for more information)

Shortcuts
This is one of the most important tabs in Settings, as it gives you a bird’s-eye-view of all you have available, and lets you set Shortcuts to:
- Applications
- System Commands
- Built-In Commands
- Commands associated with third-party Extensions
- Quicklinks you’ve created
The types of Shortcuts available in Raycast are:
- Hotkeys: keyboard combinations that launch the corresponding Application, Quicklink, or Command directly, without the need to open the launcher.
- Aliases: short phrases which let you quickly find items in root search.
